RedPoint Innovations Introduces the Versatilt WheelChair Tilting Device for Special Care Dentistry.

The Patient's wheelchair is rolled onto the Versatilt and with the use of a remote the care provider tilts the patient's wheelchair to the appropriate angle needed for their dental procedure.

  • Eliminates lifting of patients - wheelchair is rolled onto the Versatilt without removing the patient.  Patients have been dropped and injured which resulted in broken hips, displacement of central lines and torn skin during the transfer from wheelchair to dental chair.

  • Eliminates injury to the care providers - no physical lifting of the patients, which means no workman compensation claims for back injuries, no litigation or monetary loss.

  • Tilts back with the use of a remote to 65 degrees to allow the practioner to provide the best possible health care.

  • Easily transported and takes up very little storage space.

  • Complies with Safe Patient Handling Regulations.

Oval Callout: "The patients love it. No one will drop them. The heavy lifting can hurt my back.  This is much better now. The doctor says it makes the job more fun.

The wheelchair bound patient offers a special challenge for dental personnel. Ideally, to properly treat this special care patient, they should be in a reclining position, which offers optimum access for dental care.

The Versatilt allows the dental care provider to recline the patient in their own wheelchair, up to 65 degrees. It will also support up to 750 pounds.

One dentist said, We see, conservatively, anywhere from 2 to 6 patients a day in the Versatilt. We are open 4 days per week right now, so I would say we see 50 – 95 patients per month in the “tilts.” We definitely use it in marketing efforts and certainly in grant applications. It is always one of the aspects of the clinic that draws the most attention when people visit. “

In the past, dental care providers had to lift the patient to the dental chair and at the end of the procedure, back to their wheelchair. This always presents the danger of injury to the patient and the dental care provider.

Legal and monetary consequences can be an end result.  Back injuries, in this scenario, are an inherent part of the job for dental and medical personnel.

They can result in worker’s compensation claims and, more importantly, the possible loss of a valued member of the dental team.
